Active Pixels – free professional photo editor
Free image editor very similar to Photoshop
When it comes to photo editing, the undisputed king is Photoshop. But if you're looking for a cheaper alternative that can give you the same – or at least similar – functionality then Active Pixels is an excellent choice. This photo editor resembles Photoshop in many aspects, from the way menus and windows are laid out on its interface to the keyboard shortcuts used for many actions. It also includes similar tools, like the magic wand, the gradient, the polygonal lasso and others. What's more, it supports working with layers. Active Pixels also includes some extra embedded apps, such as a red-eye fixer, a picture browser and a screen capture tool - although it only grabs full-screen images. That said, bear in mind that this free photo editor is not as powerful as Adobe's big shot. Despite the large number of filters and effects included, some of them lack proper configuration settings. I specially disliked the way sliders are designed: they're very uncomfortable to use. In any case, Active Pixels is an excellent photo editor that can be very useful for those cases in which you don't have Photoshop at hand or you just prefer to use a lighter app to perform the same tasks. Realy – wait for Ap4 – i’ve got small surprise for you
2 MALLONE – you please at first try to understand what you download. Ap 4 so small because do not countain skins. And AP4 is much better than all, you can even see it in preview. Also AP4 so small because its only preview and does not even contain 50% of code minimum.
What about a ZIP distribution so that it can be used as a portable application?

I really want to use your program but it does not work. Version 4 has the filters installed and have the palette of colors and only open the Tools menu. Please help me to use your program.
Since 2008 I have earlier version and no work. I think they were a virus, but had no apparent problem in the computer.
I downloaded the program directly from your site 3 times and it does not work.

You can download only Active Pixels 2 here Other version currently not avialable. I recommend you wait Active Pixels 4.
I have your Active Pixels and love it. Can’t wait for Active Pixels 4. Can you please update us all as to when you may have it ready for us to download. I am creating a website and need your extra stuff. Photoshop is tooooo expensive. Also, will you have in this version any animation capabilities?
